Green/Environmental Initiatives: NOW SAPPHIRE AND NOW JADE are active members of the MARTI Initiative (Mesoamerican Reef Tourism Initiative) since 2009 both hotels are certified and we are working in the second phase of this initiative. Also we are planning to get the MARTI CORAL certification for 2012.
The Mesoamerican Reef Tourism Initiative (MARTI) was launched in October 2006 as a joint initiative of Conservation International’s Center for Environmental Leadership in Business and Amigos de Sian Ka’an in partnership with the Coral Reef Alliance. MARTI’s vision for change in the Mesoamerican Reef Ecoregion is to see tourism become a force for biodiversity conservation and sustainable community development. MARTI aims to ensure that the very qualities that draw so many tourists to the Mesoamerican Reef Ecoregion are maintained, and to demonstrate that biodiversity and human society can harmoniouslyco-exist. To this end, MARTI is systematically engaging change agents in key sectors of the tourism industry — hotels, marine recreation operators and cruise lines — to significantly reduce the industry’s environmental footprint and maximize its contributions to the protection of the Mesoamerican Reef.
In Rooms NOW SAPPHIRE & NOW JADE: All of our rooms are 100 smoke free as well as all of the rooms are provided of an energy saver which is activated according to the movement, and turns off after few minutes that the guests left the room. Each room in both hotels have a card in which explains the procedure of the reuse of towels and linen. The plastic key cards are reusable as many times as possible, all our faucets and showerheads as well as the toilets. are installed with a water saver system. All our amenities used in the room as Shampoo, Conditioner, soap, body wash etc, are eco friendly and biodegradable the containers are used to be refilled. Our laundries are efficiently treated each machine must work with the correct capacity in order to reduce energy and water waste.
