Award Winning Musicians, Legend and Paisley, Set to Entertain Attendees at 2019 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, Columbus.

2019 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy multi award winning musical performances, first by John Legend at the ASAE Foundation The Classic, and Brad Paisley at the Closing Celebration. From August 10–13, ASAE is expecting more than 5,000 association professionals and industry partners to come together in Columbus.

“This will be the first time the ASAE Annual Meeting is being held in Columbus and we couldn’t be more excited. As a Strategic Partner, Experience Columbus has long supported the association community, and as hosts they have planned a memorable experience for our attendees by signing John Legend and Brad Paisley as entertainment,” said ASAE President & CEO John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE.                                                                                        

Ohio native John Legend will perform during the ASAE Foundation’s The Classic. The  event will take place on Monday, August 12 at the Nationwide Arena.  “We are thrilled to have John Legend perform at The Classic,” said Susan Robertson, CAE, EVP, ASAE/President, ASAE Foundation. “An intimate performance by one of today’s top musical stars paired with the knowledge that attendees are helping The Foundation advance the association industry makes this event a must.”

Country superstar and spokesperson for Columbus based Nationwide, Brad Paisley, will help us celebrate under the stars for a closing concert on Tuesday, August 13. The event will take place at Express Live!, the first indoor – outdoor convertible venue. “The city of Columbus cannot wait to welcome 2019 ASAE Annual Meeting attendees,” said Brian Ross, President & CEO, Experience Columbus. “It is our hope that in addition to our diverse and creative city, these top performers will make Columbus an unforgettable meeting.”

ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition Provides Insight on Workplace Innovation, Importance of Face-to-Face Communication

WASHINGTON — More than 5,400 association professionals and industry partners attended the 2015 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, August 8-11, in Detroit. Attendees participated in more than 130 education sessions, networked in the exhibit hall, and took part in Detroit Destination Tours and EduTours. The ASAE Foundation sold more than 2,000 tickets to The Classic, held at Detroit’s Fox Theatre, which is the highest attendance in its history.

The final attendance breakdown includes: 2,812 executives, 1,799 exhibitors, 790 others, including guests, spouses, press, volunteers, vendors, and staff, for a grand total of 5,401.

A total of 431 companies representing 684 booths exhibited in the expo hall this year, which resulted in a strong ratio of 61 percent buyers (association staff) to 39 percent sellers (industry partners).

“Eighty-seven percent of attendees had not held a meeting in Detroit in the last 15 years, so this provided Detroit Metro CVB a great opportunity to reveal the newly renovated Cobo Center and different meeting locations throughout the city,” said ASAE President & CEO John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE. “Attendees were buzzing about Cobo, the wonderful hospitality, and great content at this year’s event.”

During the Opening General Session on August 9, Josh Linkner, CEO and managing partner of Detroit Venture Partners, provided five “obsessions” of innovative thinkers as well as strategies attendees can use back in the office. He discussed the importance of being curious, craving what’s next, doing a “judo flip,” finding solutions in unorthodox ways, and pushing the boundaries.

During the Closing General Session on August 11, Sherry Turkle, an MIT professor and author, outlined how technology is impacting our conversations and creating a crisis in empathy that can be cured with having face-to-face conversations. She encouraged attendees to create device-free time and space, unitask instead of multitask, and use the seven-minute rule in conversations.

ASAE raised $35,000 for Alternative For Girls, which helps homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy, and exploitation. Participants made bookmarks, read to the girls, and packed hygiene kits. ASAE raised money through volunteer efforts, city tours, 5K Fun Run/Walk fees, and individual donations.

The 2016 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition will be in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 13–16.

Inspiring education and new exhibitors set to boost business  at IMEX in Frankfurt this year

Innovative educational seminars, new exhibitors and hosted buyer groups and a keynote speech by one of the world’s foremost business leaders are set to make a powerful impact at IMEX in Frankfurt 2015, taking place from 19 to 21 May.

New exhibitors and hosted buyers

Buyers will have the opportunity to meet a wide range of new exhibitors from every continent and from every meetings market sector. Emerging meetings and incentive destinations in particular will be well represented, with new exhibitors including Lithuania, Prague, Ras Al Khaimah, Meet Taiwan, Kaohsiung City and Visit Faroe Islands attending alongside the large established destinations. Exhibitors with expanded stands are also wide-ranging including Singapore, China and Macau from Asia, Azerbaijan from Eurasia, Austria and VisitBrussels from Europe, Costa Rica, Peru and Brand USA from the Americas, and Preferred Hotel Group and NH Hotel Group representing the hotel sector.

Around 4,000 hosted buyers will be arriving in Frankfurt from across the world, with 34 new groups from France, UK, Middle East, Asia and the USA. The unique Concierge Service, launched last year, will be further enhanced, there are lounge services such as free luggage storage and Wi-Fi and additional webinars for hosted buyers and intermediaries.

Education – The Inspiration Hub

The IMEX team will again be introducing several engaging new strands to the well established educational programme. The Inspiration Hub will host around 170 education sessions, with 30 of these in German. There will be new early morning sessions on Business Networking and Building Confidence. Two new session formats will be geared specifically towards Young Professionals – for anyone relatively new to the industry – and Senior Professionals.

Also new this year is Creative Thursday featuring interactive sessions from ISES (International Special Events Society) on how to form effective partnerships with suppliers and advice on event design.

As part of the new wellbeing initiative ‘Be Well at IMEX’, the Inspiration Hub has a new dedicated Health and Wellbeing track.

One of the world’s foremost business leaders, Bill McDermott, CEO of SAP, the world’s largest business software company, will deliver the keynote speech at the opening ceremony.

300 association professionals, more than 100 corporate meetings executives and 40 ministers, mayors and senior government officials from across the world will again gather in Frankfurt for dedicated peer educational and networking events specially created for them by IMEX.

DeDe Murcer Moffett to Keynote HSMAI’s MEET National Conference

DeDe Murcer Moffett, motivational speaker, author, trainer, comedian and niece of New York Yankees legend Bobby Ray Murcer, will be the keynote speaker at the 26th annual HSMAI’s MEET National conference to be held Sept. 9-10 at the Marriott Wardman Park, Washington.

Presented by Questex Hospitality + Travel, the event is expected to draw more than 900 attendees, bringing together meeting and event-planning professionals with 120 leading suppliers representing hotels, resorts, meeting venues, convention and visitors bureaus, technology, event services and promotional and marketing products.

Moffett, also known as “The Snap Out of It! Woman,” was voted “Meeting Planners Favorite Speaker” in 2014. She delivers a one-of-a-kind transformational message, drawing upon her extensive career climbing the corporate ladder, battle with and triumph over a 24-year addiction and her lifelong experience as a singer, actress and stage performer.

Buyers Confirm Demand for Increased Presence of European Suppliers at IBTM America

Regional buyers signed up to attend ibtm america (www.ibtmamerica.com) have expressed a clear demand for an increased presence of European suppliers as they attend the show in search of the next “big idea” international incentive and meeting destination.
